Iran won three gold medals at first day of the 34th Annual Freestyle
wrestling tournament Takhti Cup in Tehran Feb. 6 and Feb. 7.
The special wrestler of the tournament was Georgia wrestling President
Eldar Kurtanidze. Kurtanidze,42, appeared on mat but defeated to Turkish
wrestler Ali Boncioglu 12-10. After the mat Iran wrestling President Rasul
Khadem and vice president of federation Alireza Heydari went to the mat and
praised his participation at this tournament. Also the fans cheered for great
wrestler of Georgia.
Three Iranians also won gold medal at first day. The surprise came from
74kg bout where 2013 world silver medalist Ezatollah Akbari defeated to Reza
Afzali 6-6 in semi final match.
96000 $ in total prize money
handed out to winning wrestlers. The allocation of prize money is $5000 for
gold, $3000 for silver and $2000 for bronze.
