Iran wrestling got 6 medals at Olympic Games, including 3 gold medals to create best result of Iran wrestling in history of Olympic Games.

The wrestlers of Greco-roman head coach Mohammad Bana had astonishing performance as they achieved 3 gold medals by Hamid Soryan at 55kg, Omid Noroozi at 60kg and Ghasem Rezaei at 96kg.

Also Iran freestyle team got one silver and two bronze medals by Sadegh Goodarzi at 74kg (silver) and Ehsan Lashgari at 84kg and Komeil Ghasemi at 120kg.

Iran freestyle team was unlucky to win gold medal as 96kg world champion Reza Yazdani couldn’t finish semi final match due to injury. He defeated Russian Abdusalam Gadisov in second round. Yazdani needs surgery and will be out of the mats for 6 months.
